Yamaha C70TLRY (2000 model year)

The Faria analog (dial/needle type) Tachometer quit working on my Yamaha C70TLRY outboard after 20 years. It's getting power (12 volts), the backlight works, and all connections are good. There is a green wire connected to the terminal marked "signal" that goes to the key switch harness and then to the outboard.

Is there a way to test the tach to see if it's bad? Or, is there a way to test the signal coming from the outboard?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Mike

Mike, if you are getting a signal from the engine to the tach, then I would say it's probably the tach that's faulty, it's served you well for 20 yrs. now, I would replace it and the problem should be resolved.
