VolvoPenta 2007 5.0 GXI-G

(Satellite Beach, FL USA)

I called/visited all of the Volvo Penta Dealers listed for the area (Melbourne, FL), none of them will work on Volvo Products. No dealer within 50 miles.

I started to have a problem with the engine, it went into low idle mode and the alarm horn started blaring continuously.

I tried to diagnose the system myself and discover that the fuel pump was not putting out enough fuel, so I replaced the entire assembly.
Who paints the inside of a fuel pump?
I also Replaced the cap and rotor, wires, plugs and changed the oil, filter and impeller.

When I turn the key to on; I still get a constant warning horn blaring, engine starts ok, runs great and is not in low power mode, warning horn continues to sound.

Oil pressure is good, Temp is normal and climbs as the engine warms up. I pulled all the sensor one at a time, no change.

I found a local boat mobile mechanic that had a code reader computer, for a price he told me:

System Indicated: Engine had a map sensor alert some time ago,
All sensors read normal
No error codes were present on this key cycle
Warning buzzer was off
Warning Light was off
All sensor appeared to be reading within tolerance.

He reset all codes and restarted the engine – no code present, computer reported: Horn set to: off, warning Light set to: off - horn still blearing.

My mobile boat guy suggested I just disconnect the warning horn or buy a new ECM $2400.00

I can't find a wiring diagram for a GXI-G single connector ECM, or 5.0 GXI-G engine. Does anyone have one, the Volvo Manual/Pubs site is not working.

The 5.0 GXI-G engine has two different Data ports, is there an inexpensive way to read the error codes?

older GXI -a-f J1/J2 models suggest unplugging the J1 and see if the horn stops if it does the ECOm is bad, if not check wires - what do you do with the single connector ECM?

Anyone have experience having a ECM rebuild.

I went to 5 different marina all told me to get rid of the boat because it a Volvo Penta thoughts?

Thanks

Disconnect leads on exhaust manifold one at a time and the do the same at the oil pressure sender. Just an easy check of senders…
