My maiden voyage, hard to start, I noticed the throttle (butterfly) valve stays closed, After I ran it for an hour or so, it ran ok. I put it back in storage for a couple of months. I ran it in my yard recently the valve stays closed and I noticed the oil pressure gauge was at 5 psi for an minute or so and it dropped to zero and I shut it down, Also it looks like its not consuming oil, or as much as I would expect. I noticed a bell crank is connected to the oil pump and butterfly valve? I'm wondering if there is a connection to the valve and low oil pressure issues?
I would appreciate any input, I'm a mechanic but never worked on outboards or 2 strokes.
