It's a 94 Sea Ray Signature series 200 with the 5.0l mercruiser inboard and the alpha 1 outboard. Currently the amp meter is reading 0 or not working while the motor is running. My attempts to test the alternator output have come up nothing with the multi meter (for which I am rusty at using one)and just reading 12.5 volts running with lights and accessories on while connected to a mobile charging unit that states that it tests alternator output. My mechanical experience tells me that if the alternator is charging, then it should be putting out 13.5 volts. unless a boat is way different from an automobile. Any help would be appreciated.
