no power to ignition switch.

I was removing the alternator on my mercruiser 502efi and had the battery switch on and listining to the radio. I touched the back of the alternator with a wrench and it threw a spark. the radio went dead and now I have no power to the ignition. when i turn the key on, it's like there are no batteries in the boat. There is power to the 20amp breaker thats mounted on the back of the engine. But no power is going to the 50amp breaker thats mounted on the side of the engine. ANY IDEAS??

Found the problem

I found the problem.. It was the SQUARE FUSE that is mounted to the starter. The hot lead from the back of the alternator goes directly to the fuse. NOTE: The square fuse looks nothing like an ordinary fuse at all. Funny thing is, I knew it was there, just didn't know it was a fuse..
