Mercury "tower of power" 115 hp 1982

The tell tale wasn't pissing water but wasn't running hot. Blew through the hose on top the head to the end tale tell fitting. Had a dirt dobbers nest in it Changed the impeller still no different. Noticed the upper impeller house was a little melted just above the insert the impeller rides in.nothing bad, just like the shaft got warm and was to close I can blow air through the tale tell end and hear the air coming out in the vents just above the water inlet in the foot. Water does come out the exhaust around the prop. I haven't had this boat in the water just with muffs till I can look back and see water circulation.

There really was no issue. I'm new to boating have had a few boats but small and didn't do a lot of work with them. I took the boat to the lake and the tale tell worked fine. I found it wasn't a self primed system so the water level has to be all the way up to the impeller to push water. No sure if there was an issue to begin with cause the seller told me it wouldn't piss but he never ran it hot just so anyone may know this engine has to be submerged to the top of the lower unit for the tale tell to indicate water flow
