Johnson 1988 6 HP 2 Stroke, J6RCCS

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a 1988 Johnson 6 HP 2 Stroke (j6rccs)

It runs & fires right up, however, it has brown stuff coming out into the water when running it.

Pictures are attached. It looks like a mix of gas, oil, & water.


Has anyone had an engine similar to this where this was normal? Any ideas on what the issue might be?

My best guess was to replace the gaskets in the engine block anticipating there was a failed seal somewhere for gas & water
