Evinrude E120TLERC. 1991

Own temp alarm has tan wire, purple wire and black ground wire. Replacement alarm has only tan and purple wire wire. Will this work without ground?

Researched model number. Not found in OMC parts book. Tried several versions but none would respond with a model #. None found….
