There are two distinct detentes when shifting from forward to reverse. Neutral is somewhere between these two detents and seems to vary a bit. This creates two issues. The first being that if the motor is turned off when it is in gear, or the lever is bumped while the engine is off, it is difficult to locate neutral to get the engine to start. The second issue is that occasionally in a close quarter maneuvering situation sometimes it isn’t in neutral when we thought it was.
My question is there any kind of neutral indicator light that I can add to clearly indicate whether or not the engine is in neutral?
