Buzzing from control box with key on

Was going good gave it gas and started buzzing from control box even with motor off and key on 2002 oil injection Mercury

Noise from shift box: 1994 Playcraft pontoon boat with 75 HP Mercury Outboard "screeches" at us from the shift box when warmed up and running. We replaced the impeller but no change in the noise.
Cause????
