Engine has 6,000 hrs, has always ran good, regularly maintained. Last time out sailing the engine would not get above 2,500 rpm, normally it gets to 3,000 rpm. Also, a lot of black smoke at full throttle. Engine idles fine, runs OK at rpms below 2,000. Thinking it may be exhaust elbow clogged?
