I purchased boat without prior user available for input.
I am able to get it started after sitting 2 years, but cannot find the kill switch. Killing it by choke is not a long term solution.
More Details (i'll forget something):
- It is electric start
- It is on a 2000 Macgregor sailboat which has a pedestal.
- The pedestal contains an arm for forward reverse and speed.
- There is a button for the starter, which works.
- There is one rectangle guage which is so clouded I cannot tell if it works or not, nor what it is.
- There is another cone shaped plastic piece I think I broke the cover for taking it off, which I now believe is an oil pressure light. It is a light of some sort.
There is another button (sharing wires with the rectangle gauge) which I think may be a kill switch since it just a push button and is (or use to be) red. However, it doesn't work.
There are two sets of red, green, black, white wire harnesses, which come off the same 2 black/red and Black wires from inside the outboard cover.
I'm trying to figure which wires are the kill switch wires so I can replace or at least kill the motor after running.
It also was not peeing when I started it, but that may be from using one sided ear muffs. I have filled a bucket, but do not want to start it again until I can kill it in a correct manor.
