2003 Mercury 15hp 4-stroke

Unable to seat socket onto lower spark plug in order to replace it. I had been advised to get a ‘wobble head’ socket (similar to a universal socket but with 360’ of rotation) , but am still unable to seat the socket onto the spark plug.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice?
