Had been running the boat all day no issues, start heading back to the ramp running about 5k rpm and without warning came to an almost immediate stop and it died. Tried restarting but the starter wouldn't turn the flywheel, I was able to manually rotate it and after about 15 minutes I got it to refire but it didn't like it. I was able to get it loaded up and when I got home I removed the port side head and found the top piston rings had almost welded themselves to the cylinder wall and left metal built up. after pulling the piston from the motor It looked like the piston was scratched and gouged, definatly no good. I also noticed that both the other cylinders had plenty lubrication but the top one was bone dry.I was able to hone the cylinder, put new piston and rings in it and after getting everthing back together It started right up so I left it idol for 5 minutes or so before shutting it down, I wanted to pull the head to check the cylinder with the replaced piston and again that cylinder was bone dry while the other two had plenty of lubrication. Why is there no oil lining the cylinder wall at all? I know its going to just cause it to lock up again if I run it so I really need some help please!!
