1995 Mercury 90hp 2 stroke

Awhile back I was left high and dry on a launch when my motor wouldnt turn over. Was told my stator was going bad. Later that night my boat started up and ran fine. Had went out a few times after it had ran and no issues would start right up. Now a week ago was going to use a 12v charger port on my dash, plugged a charger into it and it shut off my motor and wouldn't restart at all, even trying a few hours later while still stranded on a river. Next morning started up just fine again. I ordered a new stator and after replacing it, it started up. Was going to use my boat the other day and the motor didnt start again on the launch. Let it sit for a bit and started in the driveway a couple of times later that night. Then this morning 8/1/21 went to start it in the driveway and nothing. checked the plugs for spark and they all had spark, after messing with the plugs, tried starting it again and it started. Let it sit for a few hours and it wont start again. It will turn over a few times then it dies. does that two or three times and then it will just sit there and crank. Running out of ideas now.

CLICK problem

The symptoms you have described sounds like the CDI (capacitor discharge ignition) box is failing. I would replace it and see if that resolves the problem. I hope that helps, good luck.
