Johnson outboard dies at 2k rpm. Boat would run out of channel and a mile on plane then die and not restart until cooled off. Replaced power pack and had same issue. Replaced stator and timer base. Now motor starts better than it has in years. Now will idle perfect but immediately dies adding throttle a little past idle. Rebuilt carbs that looked good and tried on remote tank same issue.
