Put boat with 40hp Yamaha Outboard in for the season and it ran great until I got to the mouth of the river where I live. Entrance is shallow so I had to raise the tiller on my way in. Was kicking up some sand but the pisser was still pissing.
About half way in the motor stalled. Would start but instantly stall after that. Had to move the red lever to emergency position to get the motor to keep running. Made it to the dock this way. Replaced the plugs but still has the same problem...starts but instantly stalls. Haven't checked the compression yet, that's my plan for this evening. What should I troubleshoot, inspect or replace next.
