1991 Chaparral with a volvo penta engine

My brother in law fixed the hydrolics on the outboard so the it would go up an down. We took it to the lake and it did good, no over heating but it was a little boggy... When we got it off the lake we took out the plug and we had a lot of water in the boat. The hose that goes into the outboard prop was leaking... We tried to tighten it but it still leaks what could it be at this point? Do we need to change the big hose or seals??? Please let me know what you think.

Hello. The hose or hoses up under the outdrive might be torn leaking ..accordion type exhaust hose is most common there is also a small hose that can crack or come off if clamps have failed tilt it up and look at both ends for breaks or see if the housing it mounts to is cracked. ss
