1989 Stratos Boat won't shut off

My boat a 1989 stratos ran fine for a half mile run. We started to leave but it won't start we trolled back to ramp. Got home I took my kill switch out, touched the two wires together it cranked ran great. Put a new kill switch in, now it won't shut off unless the ignition and kill switch both are off. The original switch had three wires, the new one has two. Only two wires were connected on the three wire switch originally. I have searched for a possible third wire, but have not found a disconnected wire. Any ideas?
