1988 Force 125hp 1251X8c

The voltages tested per my force book are nowhere near what the book says. I have the DVA adapter. Voltage from the stator should be 170v, I get over 300, and that's with a NEW stator. Voltages out to the coils, per the book, 150v, I barely get 50+ volts going to each coil.
Engine starts and idles great, sort of rough. Take it out on a lake, runs good for 5 minutes, then barely makes it back sputtering to the dock.
Ohm readings on new stator are per the book as well as the trigger ohms.
I've about given up on it.
