1985 Mercury 75 hp 4 cylinder, 2 stroke

When I'm running the motor at any speed, it seemed to be running on 3 cylinders and then out of know where, it would intermittently catch the 4th cylinder and run like a bat out of hell. I don't think it's a compression issue as the cylinder would not be intermittent? I'm not a mechanic by any means, I did change the stator out in it two years ago and you could look at the outboard and it will start. Any suggestions? I was thinking it could be a coil or spark wire issue?

Thank you.
