boat radio only works sporadically

by Rick
(Fredericksburg, VA)

I have a 2001 Searay 210 sundeck with a Clarion stereo system. The problem is the radio only works when it wants to. In other words, sometimes when I start the engine, the radio comes on and works great. Other times it does not come on when I start the engine or when I push the power button for turning the radio on and off. So I never know if I will have music or not. I have checked all fuses and they are good. Also, all wiring running from the stereo appears to be connected as it should be. It seems to me that there must be a short circuit somewhere, I just don't know how to determine this or where it is (in the radio or the wiring?}
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you
