Yamaha 115hp fuel injection four stroke. 2000

Just bought this engine on a boat. I would like to ask if the engine hours can be determined from the tacho. It has a digitalYamaha tach with rpm and oil pressure warning. There are no buttons on it for other functions. When I turn the ignition key it shows the number 88 for a couple of seconds before reverting to zero as the engine has not yet been started.
What does this number 88 mean and does it indicate hours in a similar way to Suzuki engines?
