I am considering purchasing a 1989 Renken Seamaster 2488 WA Cuddy equipped with a 175hp 5.0 Yamaha closed cooling system sterndrive. The owner states the boat ran fine until the starter went out and we replaced it with a new one and now it will not engage the flywheel. Is this something I should even be considering. Bought a 87 Sea Ray 270 and was told the motor was rebuilt. Took it out 6 times and it allegedly dropped a valve. Dont want to get burnt again. What would you recommend and if this is something I should pursue what technically and monetarily should I expect. Thank you for your time and attention.
