2005 Yamaha 150 outboard wont start and no trim

by Brendan Sheehan

When the ignition key is turned I get nothing at all. No clicking, nothing, total silence. Also the trim does not work either, but when I press the trim button, the fuel gauge jumps. All the other gauges work and all the lights work. The battery is fully charged and the contacts are clean and tight. the boat only has 100 hours in it, hardly used at all. Any thoughts in whats wrong?

There is possibly a loose connection somewhere, start from the keyswitch and work from there. Use a multimeter, check the voltages when the keyswitch is turned, it is not uncommon to have faulty contact within a switch, even a new one. So check that.
