Honda BF100A 2016

by Julie Shaw

The engine keeps cutting out as if it has an overheating problem but it’s not overheated and Cooling water check hole continues to keep coming out behind. It’s going into limp mode very quickly but is intermittent and Is not specific when engineers put diagnostic kit on engine which results in frustrating intermittent problem, and loss of confidence in using the boat. We are fairly new to boating and not sure where to go from here - any advice greatly received? Thank you.

Honda Just Quits Running NEW
by: Craig ( Master-Macanic ) ( Honda model BL100)

Hi! Check to see that the air-vent screw on the attached fuel-tank cap is open, so as not to cause a vacuum condition in the fuel supply tank, that will restrict fuel flow & cause the engine to stop running
That air-screw must always be open to atmospheric pressure when the engine is running, close it only when transporting the tank for re-fueling, & remember to open it again after re-attaching the fuel-supply-line to the engine again.

The amount of time that the engine will run with the fuel tank vent closed after re-filling, is directly relative to the amount of fuel in the tank at the time. once the engine fuel pumping system has created a strong enough vacuum in the tank, the engine pumping system will not be able to overcome the resistance of the built-up vacume
& the engine will stop running. So Now you know.

Good Luck & best regards. --- Craig.
