5.7 vapor lock
by: Anonymous

My 5.7 did the same thing. Turns out after running for a time and then shutting down to troll, or idling for a length of time, a vapor lock would form. After trying to start for 15 minutes or so the motor would fire up and run fine until the next shut down. The solution was to insulate the heater hoses which [on my motor] were laying against the fuel lines between the mechanical fuel pump and the high presseure fuel pump. Also to insulate the fuel lines between the high pressure fuel pump and the Throttlebody system where the cooling hoses cross or lay on the fuel lines. Hope this helps. Also when using the big motor for trolling or idling a long time I started proping the engine cover open a couple of inches to let the heat out.
