30hp Mariner running too fast

After rebuilding the carb. on Mariner 30hp, the engine now races as if it's going to blow up.
Fuel getting to carb ok.
Any ideas?

Hi folks, I've now sorted it.
The problem was that when I took the fuel filter off ages ago I must have dropped the O ring, so sucking in air and making it race.
Hope this helps someone else.
