2007 Suzuki DF250

Motor is on a 2007 Champion bay boat.
Finding neutral to start the engine. I push the throttle lever until I find that nice click at neutral and try to start. I get nothing. I pull the throttle back a little into reverse and it fires up. Just concerned that it may actually be in reverse when the engine starts.
