Corrosion hinge solution
by: Anonymous

Assuming you are talking about the pin that allows the engine to tilt up or down? Regardless, if it’s based upon corrosion then you’ve got a dilemma as such corrosion is quite stubborn. One option is repeated heat and cold break up the corrosion. That can help but here is a WTF solution if room exists. Clean as much corrosion as possible where threads are accessible then heat that area with a torch... then while hot drip melted candle wax over the threads. Let it cool and repeat. I know sounds crazy but it just worked for me when separating a lower unit in an older outboard. Found this in an old timers site.
Best wishes!!
