wont start after running a while

My 1984 johnson 90hp outboard will start when I get it to the lake and run like it's new all day as long as I don't turn it off. Once I turn it off it will take any where from 30 minutes to and hour before it will re-start. the motor will crank til the battery dies but won't fire. When it does start back up it runs great again. Do you have any ideas? Thank you in advance. Dennis |
