Volvo Penta 5.0 FL Starter will not crank

I had this problem and I removed the starter motor and had it tested, it was fine. I ended up changing the slave solenoid after which, the ground wire from the slave solenoid began to smoke. I changed the ground wire and that stopped. Later discovered that when I had the starter out the wire from the starter solenoid to the starter was never re-tightened. After this, everything was fine, for about a day, starter motor cranking with plenty of juice. Then, next day, I turn the key, I hear something sizzle, and now I just get a click.
Checked everything with a tester, power going into the solenoids and back to the starter motor, battery is strong, grounds seem good. Re-checked the wiring, everything is correct. Jumped the solenoid, no good. Not sure where to go next.
