V H F Interference

I have recently installed a Cobra DSC VHF radio and now I have loss of autopilot control when the radio is switched on. The radio stops scanning with the autopilot on standby and if I transmit the autopilot is overpowered and goes off course. My autopilot is a C-Tronic A P 9000.
I do not have this problem with my original radio a Sailor VHF compact RT 2048.
Any solutions.
