Suzuki, DT20 1987

Hello all, I have a Suzuki DT20 1987 salvaged from a craigslist "Free" add...it didn't start. (as you'd assume) I've replaced the entire ignition system. CDI UNIT / IGNITION COIL ASSY
32900-96340, COIL, IGNITION
32140-96300, COIL, LIGHTING *{FOR MANUAL STARTER}*
32120-96310 and .SENSER, IGNITION *{MODEL VF}*
32150-96310. and pulled disassembled and cleaned the carb to include jets.

And now its starts first or second pull and it runs great at half and full fwd throttle and pushes a 14' runabout at 20 MPH with me (235#) in it alone.

However, it has a "lean sneeze"? at idle.

The only issue so far is at/on idle... its got a "pop and a puff".

idle, idle, idle pop/puff... idle idle idle pop/puff.

Also, on post inspection after an hr test run on the lake of each newly installed spark plugs, one of two (new) plugs is fairly black and dryish and the other is fairly wet and lightly browned.

So whos got the magic sauce? Any help is appreciated... thoughts a timing procedure, or reed valve inspection procedure... or?

TRhank you for the assist.

Sounds like a possible fuel carburettor issue. Dry but blackish plug sounds like running a bit rich, while wettish plugs sound like oil, while you have done an overhaul maybe revisit that. Perhaps also look at ignition leads, are all okay, no insulation breakdown or tracking anywhere, as perhaps not getting correct spark voltage at plugs.

A normal spark plug has a gray color. A wet spark plug indicates possible water in your fuel. If black sooty plug indicates possible excess oil in fuel, or possible low spark and incomplete fuel ignition
