steering cable issue

I own a 1978 Tiara Sport Salon 25' Flybridge model. My last time on the boat, in October, the steering cable broke. She is powered with an OMC 800 outdrive, and the part number is 979919 on the steering cable. I am having difficulty finding one, and I'm wondering if this can be retrofit with a different brand name.
Teleflex seems to be the brand I see most out there. Can anyone help?
