Skeeter 1994 Z150 removal of gas tank

I am tring to fix my live well pumps in 1994 Z150 Skeeter. I drain the gas tank and I can not get the tank out. it is bigger than the hole. What are my options? Do I cut the tank out and find a new one? Thanks for your help.
