omc stalls when fuel gauge bounces to empty

my 1990 3.0L OMC loses power and stalls while accelerating when the fuel gauge bounces to empty. the gauge seams to do alot more bouncing than usual. sometimes the gauge bounces back up to full and the power briefly restores before dieing out again, with the gauge returning to empty. I've cleaned the connections at the sending unit and tightened the connections at the fuel gauge. not sure where to go now??? any suggestions would be great. thx |
