Oil Rig Work Prospects

I want to work on an oil rig and put my civil engineering degree to work after I graduate in May. I have a feeling my professional experience (mostly just pushing papers around and doing some calculations) didn't prepare me for this work, but I wanna get there. What do you suggest?
