Oil Rig Electrical Jobs

by mark moran
(london, England)

Im a qualified j.i.b 17th edition electrician, the top standard you can get in england, how hard would it be for me to find work on oil rigs and what is the average monthly pay, if i can transfer over to the rigs.

Answer
Standard isnt the same, rules very different and its all about good troubleshooting and maintenance skills. You need good industrial and controls experience, work in refineries, factories all help. Do Cv that shows all this plus any high voltage experience. Go list your CV on various drilling companies such as transocean and Seadrill. Look at RigZone and start looking at job descriptions. Get a BOSIET or HUET course done and an offshore medical certificate. be ready to go fast! Wages varies but around USD$80-90K a year on 28 on 28 off rotation for assistant electrician
