Offshore jobs without experience

by Scott Mcarthur
(Hamilton Scotland)

I am approved electrician with over 17 yrs experience, I have just done my survival course and medical, but all jobs I am applying for are looking for experience. Any contact anyone could pass on to me would be much appreciated.

Answer
Companies want where possible industrial experience. Suggest you write Cv to reflect this, keep Cv to just 2 pages and show all heavy industrial and control experience, high voltage is a plus. Then post your details on all drilling company websites as thats the growth area, so that means seadrill, transocean etc also post details on rigzone. Start reading up on high voltage, dynamic positioning, PLC, drilling equipment so you know what a top drive is, SCR and VFD drive principles etc
