When idling at the dock, either before or after a trip, I get a steady alarm and light. It usually takes several minutes of idling before this happens. While in gear and running it runs fine. No loss of power. It has the right amount of oil and the water flow seems good, even when the alarm is sounding. If I shift onto gear and run the engine while this is happening it hesitates and there's a significant loss of power. If I turn the engine off and restart, it again runs fine. That is as long as I don't let the engine idle for more than a few minutes. Any ideas?
