Mercruiser 4.3L

I just bought a Bayliner with the mercruiser engine. Last week I wanted to try it and went to a lake but it did not have any force and did not speed at all. before I take it out I change the impeller by myself and I am worry if I did something wrong. Please help me to get my boat run.
