Marine engineer wants oil rig job

by Balachandar
(Glasgow)

I am a Marine engineer holding class 2 (certificate of competency) and I did my B.E in mechanical in Glasgow caledonian University.I would like to know is there any courses i need to do to get an oil rig job?and what Job title can i apply in oil rig employment.

ANSWER
I am so surprised someone with your qualifications would even need to ask this question, especially someone in Scotland!! the obvious answer is that you need to go get the basic safety certificates for helicopter (HUET) and Basic Offshore Safety (BOSIET), go check with the college in Aberdeen!! the next step is go talk to various drilling companies for a start and you would be applying as marine engineer, but at what level depends on company and type of rig and your own specific experience
