Johnson. 88?, V4 115hp,

Motor died on me after running great all day! I did hear it sputter a few times but figured I would open her up a bit to clear it out. Ran great for about a mile then died. After getting towed back in because it wouldn’t turn over I figured out the battery was very close to dead. Would this cause it to stop running? I took the cover off and could turn it over by hand(not seized up) my first hopeful sign.

Got my motor running again. Not idiling well and when trying to put in gear it dies every time. I have bought a new fuel filter and will be installing that today. Any other ideas?

Dont be ashamed about those mice, the little critters set up house everywhere. It is a common occurrence in boats that have sat awhile without use, rats, birds and so on just love that cosy location

Look at fuel system first, only way battery would cause it was if no charging and the fact it just stopped is strange. Of course there may also be a poor battery connection, which often stops proper charging and if you dont get any solenoid clicking or even turning over then check all main battery connections. Check fuel system filter also. usual cause for a stoppage
