I tried to fix trim gauge and lost power to ignition

I am working on a 76 ranger and I am trying to restore it. I finally had everything working but the trim gauge, once I pulled it out and started messing with the wires on the trim gauge along with turning the key on and off a few times I lost power just to the ignition. I still have power to the dash and everything still works but I have no power when turning the key. Please help, I thought I was finally hitting ahead with this boat. Any help would be appreciated. Before messing with that gauge the boat turned over great and ran fine, but now I have no power to the key.
