Field Technician seeking offshore work

Im a qualified telcommunications field technician with no previous experience in the offshore field and looking for employment in the oil industry to expand my scope. I`m a technically minded person, self motivated and very hard working. I`m planning to go into the hydraulics field later but need to get a foot in the door in the offshore industry first. Were can i start to find work on any offshore vessel or platform in my field and what are the possible positions i can apply for ? please help !
