When I have every thing turned off on my boat with a 115 4 stroke mercury engine I still have a current draw on the battery.

electrical problem on 115 mercury 4 stroke
by: Wayne

I found where the current draw was coming from. I unpluged the two small wires from the alternator and that stopped the current draw so I thought it must be the alternator. I took the alternator to an alternator shop and they checked it and said it was OK. They said the small red wire to the alternator should just be hot when the ignition switch is on but it is staying hot all the time even when the switch is off. I unpluged the wires to the ignition switch and the small red wire to the alternator was still hot. I am thinking there must be a relay some where in the wiring that is staying on but I can't locate it.
