Do I not qualify for oil rig electricle maintenance engineer (trademan)?

I am a Malawian man aged 34. I have an advanced Diploma in Elec. and Electronics Engineering of City and Guilds of London in addition to my helicopter avionics maintenance engineer qualification. I have been working on helicopters for 8 years now in the military and I want to switch on to oil rigs. Do I not qualify in non experienced oil rig maintenance job recruitements? Please help.
