The Fish Strike back!
A game fisherman is now after a life threatening encounter with a giant marlin. The marlin leapt from the sea, skewered him close to the heart, and then dragged him into the Atlantic.
That's gotta hurt! The fisherman hooked the four-metre marlin, that weighed more than 450 kilograms, during an angling tournament off the coast of Bermuda. Normally it would take hours to reel in the fish but the marlin launched itself across the width of the boat and impaled him with its bill.
He somehow got himself off the spike and doctors say if the fish had struck 2.5 centimetres on either side, it would have pierced the heart or lung and killed him. Lucky guy with the ultimate one-that-got-away story! Boating-power and Boat Information

How Seaworthy is Your Boat?
According to new UK statistics for 2004, some 3,870 people had breakdowns that were directly attributable to either machinery failure or fuel problems. Most of this could have been avoided simply by doing the routine maintenance. Also with the season about to start all boaters are asked to ensure they are physically fit and that they also have the required experience before heading out to sea. This includes chartwork and navigation skills, along with knowledge of rules of the road and also the proper operation of any electronic navigation aids installed on the boat. Another startling find is that some 30 of the 43 liferafts presented at an Ocean Safety weekend were overdue for servicing. As a note many put this off as it’s perceived as relatively expensive. It’s you and your crews life in the balance, so get it serviced! Boating-power and Boat Information

Does He know Something We don’t?
There is a fellow in The Netherlands who has built a replica of Noah’s Ark. This huge wooden vessel is being built near Schagen, 45 km north of Amsterdam. Given that the original is some 150 cubits long by 30 cubits high and 20 cubits wide makes it nearly 70 metres long, around 13.5 metres high and 9.5 metres wide this smaller replica is still large. The ark is constructed with American cedar and Norwegian pine - on top of a steel hull. The cost of the non-profit project is around a million euro. Evidently he has started shopping for animals.
