Boat struggles to get out of hole/engine sluggish to get up to speed
(Milwaukee WI area)
Hi - I have a 2008 Starcraft 1900 ltd, 5.0 litre 305cid Mercruiser with 150 hours. It struggles to get out of the hole; engine seems to struggle to get up to RPM's and plane out. Once up and out it seems to run great. The prop is 4 blade aluminum and I think it's an 18p (it says that on the inside of the prop). I've had it almost 30-40 days and used it alot, tubing, crusing whatever. Seems it may be a warm-up thing - i.e. once warm gets up and out quicker. Had 4 adults in it today and it really struggled to get out after over 10-15 mins of no wake speed. I was told it had sat for a year before I bought it. Could this be a spark plug issue? I've been thinking it's the prop - would a 17 aluminum (vs 18) make that big a difference? What about stainless steel vs. aluminum? Other than that the boat runs great. Had 4 adults/4 kids in last week and tubed and ran about no problem. Again, seems to respond much quicker once it's really warmed up. Anything here sound familiar?
